Setting up Google Translate voice output

Abroad or without Internet access  but in desperate need to read aloud some text written in foreign language? Google Translate may help - but some setting adjustments are necessary.

First of all we need to detect language - by ourself as this feature is not supported offline. Hopefully either based on some other letters or contextually you might guess right language.

To use Google Translate without access to Internet, download offline package in advance for language in demand -  preferably over wifi to keep mobile data costs under control.

2 In Settings is necessary to define Default languageVoice Recogniser and Text-To-Speech engine and Speech Input Dialect.  Android device manufacturers also offer firm proprietary alternatives to Google.

Mind one more thing to download before going off grid:  TTS voice data - which will help make voice output of written text audible.

Heavy users in case of need to translate spoken words should get additional data for Offline Speech Recognition.

When all points listed above are checked, you can enjoy vocal translation help of Google Translate app anytime. Wishing you enjoyable travels
