Adrenaline inline skating session in Istanbul

Honestly, this is the craziest city I ever went  inline skating in: someone running on the road pushing wheelchair, cyclist fighting their way amongst the flood of cars and finally me, scaring and exciting locals on pavements and on streets as well.

On other hand, almost every response sounded positive (I do not speak neither turkish nor kurdish so I just suppose their intent) and appreciative - as I slalomed among vehicles stuck in traffic jam...

To my suprise, there are skateble trails here in Istanbul - even though cyclist and skaters are desperately endangered species around here.

In my humble view, the most spectacular piste starts at Atatürk statue near entrance to Topkapi palace along the waterfront to caravan parking lot. This smooth asphalt promenade offers wide angle scenery of Bosporus with loads of cargo ships, local fishing boats and watertaxi vessels inbetween. With tailwind or at least with stillwind conditions extremely high travel speed can be achieved here.

For doing tricks at sufficiently lighted spots, especially in the evening, the modern train bridge (Halic) is the right place. At both sides underneath the railway track almost 3m wide anti-slip coated metal platform overlooks the Golden Horn. Very slowly decreasing at both ends, seemed to me ideal for practising skating figures.

not only photo motive for tourists

For adrenaline freaks like me, there is still option to head out at rush hour and use roads with slowly moving cars as playground.
*Warning: extremely dangerous*, that's why subject for fun only to experienced skaters - in case of slipping or stumbling over, severe injuries or even death may be the consequence!
One of those relatively flat and almost even roads leads from Galata bridge (Galata Köprüsü) towards Bogazici Köprüsü - according to Google Maps it offers 6 km of fun.

Much   to turkish taxi drivers for letting me through  :)
