Kenya - On motorbike through the countryside

Being in the motocycle saddle for  several days  here in Central Highlands of Kenya,  I d love to share my impressions from this spectacular country.

Light weight setup for travelling on local motorbike

Near Lake Kamnarok we took just quick picture of the huts. The smell of decaying skin,  dried on the sun seemed unbearable

Always mind the possibility of animal crossing

On so many roads the driver must feel alone.

Full line on the middle means just to speed up when overtaking.  Motocycle appeared to me as the most appropriate mean of transport on the ground here in Africa.  Of course, the best way how to travel is to use airplane - with so many  airstrips,  no problem with landing.

Educational Center at Lake Bogoria welcomes visitors with colourful illustrationseven on the outside walls.  Honestly, the surroundings was already filled with enough variety of exotic animals.

In Kenya, surprisingly, there are many tarmac roads. However, the traffic comprises even of huge herds of cows, goats or camels, each participant being equally important.

On motorbike no permission to enter any Reserve.  Trust me - we did  a bit of bargaining - but without result.

Wide open plains - the passant without binoculars sees more animals than my camera could zoom in.
It turned out that almost every in National Reserves and Parks alike,  they expect exorbitant entrance fee from 'aliens'  - non residents. Additionally, driving inside these areas is allowed on 4 wheel vehicles only. Well, we found a way to witness many animals, they even stood curiously close to the fence.

A elephant family of 4 small and parents

Giraffes and zebras grassing near the trail road

Viewpoint over the Great Rift  Valley

Crossing the Equator several times,  finally it was proper setting for a picture.

In background Mt Ololokwe, the site where  this excellent crosscountry pilot took off and flew all the way along the road.

Please excuse me for the quality of these  pictures,  i did my best to shoot them with the equipment I had.
However, most sites are just best enjoyed by your own when you come over here.

For opportunity to join this motorbike expedition the very next time during the dry season,  keep following this blog.
