FB app uninstalled - Moved to G+

Having instant access to social network like Facebook, offers not only advantages of being informed of anything happenning right now, but at the same time there is a risk of being distracted from noteworthy events in real life.

Even other, maybe less profound reasons made me to uninstall the FB app from my phone. However, the other social network app, which I consider work oriented, is still in heavy use.

Here is why I switched myself out off the instant flow of crap:

Unauthorised surveillance?

Anytime I tapped FB app, GPS localization started - even though I previously disabled this feature in FB app settings. Technical fault or deliberate data collection?

I am pretty aware that Google tracks my online activity, but they give me an output either in Latitude or general overview  with in-depth statistics on demand in Account Activity Report.
(- great overview how one uses internet when logged in an Google account)
Moreover, Google as a search giant is a frequently requested by governments and digital rights holder' representatives to hand over data about internet users. Take a closer look in google's  Transparency Report.

To be honest, every major internet company - esp running social networks, dispose of such a vast data collection about their respective user base. Well, here is the question what they handle this data wealth? ...

Tech specs
Communicating with people from abroad that use exclusively FB, FB Messenger app saves me otherwise expensive GSM roamig fees. However, in this app I can open conversation only with one contact at a time. In Google Talk just swipe sideways to focus on conversation with another contact.

SIGN-IN
Until now, having FB installed on a mobile device, would make it easier to auto-login with your FB account. However, as posted by +Mark Traphagen , Google introduced simple and secure sign-in feature - which prohibits social spam.

FRIEND ONLINE?
FB collect data based on my activity in their network with a single reason in mind ( my personal impression):
- to sell on me advertisement - better: suggest content! Well, nothing new - but gain  / cost ratio proved unsatisfactory to me.

To push Like button (Pages) or Add friend works naturally seamless. I got to agree that they already improved options to filter posts displayed in my feed (esp to lower the wasteload from game addicts).
Even tough, after a while I feel pretty lost in the landslide of post from pages and other FB creatures. I guess that all my interactions saved on FB servers try to produce a "tailored" ads in your feed - nicely disguised as an innocent post (with a polite remark: 'suggested'). May I note that none of these ads tempted me to click on them ...
Still I haven't found where and how to switch / filter them off - which is annoying (though for specific situations FB does great service - for some time ..). Constantly new updates to "enhance the performace", eating up CPU performance and causing other app to slow down, just added to my radical solution to say good bye on mobile.

FEED my ATTENTION = challenge my patience
Well, deep into checking out feed, as I open in different app any link posted and after that wanted to return where I broke off - to my amazement I got re-routed back to the very beginning of a particular groups' feed.

On G+ is it you who choose whom to follow (they won't see your posts) or to add to your circles (interaction expected). If you do not like someone or something or evaluate as not meeting your expectations, you would just remove them from a particular circle.
Google would feed your attention with ads either, but here it is separated and graphicly explicit about the content.

As I originally opened an account at FB in order to retain sort of contact with people I interacted in the past, I will keep my account accessinhg it from desktop PC. After 3 days, I supplement my need for nice images on Google Plus  - with communities about science and nature. I feel much free to choose myself ... and I do enjoy that!

A kind of explanatory song about G+ VS FB  - labelled as "Google Plus Song put it in a funny way. More explanation why to use Google Plus instead of Facebook on this blog by +Lauren Sutton.
Practical comparison and consequently reasons why FB is on downward spiral for me - posted by +J.C. Kendall.

HAve a nice day with whatever OS or social network you are on ...
